Robert Wilson Smith

Robert reads as quiet authority, still on the outside and dense with interior life underneath. He fits naturally into Southern Gothic, literary and independent character work. He plays the solitary laborer, the man carrying something unspoken, the one who has seen too much to waste words.

His deepest range lives in moral complexity. He plays men reckoning with their own shadow, men who aren’t good or bad but capable of both, depending on the moment.

He also has an unexpected affinity for absurdist comedy. He plays it straight-faced and fully committed, as the delusional dreamer who doesn’t know he’s funny or the eccentric running on his own internal logic. For him, dramatic gravity and comic absurdism come from the same place.

He studies Advanced Scene Study with Martha Gehman at Zak Barnett Studios. Off set, nature is his sanctuary.
